Autumn

Golden leaves, dusky skies
Sharp winds and chilly rains
Children shiver yet laugh and play
The sky is dark and stormy,
Trembling with rain
Many say the earth is dying,
but no,
it is awake,
Watching,
Waiting,
Whispering secrets in our ears
Of what hides behind a silent forest
Showing us the brilliant colors of flame and gold
Behind soft, quivering green
Autumn is when many sleep,
But I,
I come alive.
